Saturday, September 21, 2002, Judith and I drove up to Belton, TX, to Lake Belton.
These photos (not in any particular order) show some scenes of the Lake as well as the QRP operation I ran from there.
I used a 12ah battery to power the rig, which was a Yaesu FT-817 at five watts. The antenna was a homebrew Buddipole. The Buddipole was supported on a 17.5 foot telescoping painters' pole that you can get at almost any home improvement store, and probably other places too.
Here's a list of the QSO's I made in the four-hour operation:
W0PJK - Bob - Cottonwood, AZ - 1715Z - 18.089 mhz
WA6HZY - Jim - Bakersfield, CA - 1750Z - 18.124.50 mhz
K7GJX - Doug - Apache Junction, AZ - 1810Z - 18.156 mhz
KG4PUF - Ben - Okeechobee, FL - 1840Z - 21.330 mhz
This was a Special Event Station
K0UU - Jeff - Minneapolis, MN - 1845Z - 21.065 mhz
KG6MU - Dave - Palm Coast, FL - 1858Z - 21.335 mhz
KO7T - Gene - Palm Springs, CA - 1858Z - 21.335 mhz
The QSO with the last two stations was a three-way between us, and they both gave me 5x7 to 5x8 signal reports, so thanks, guys.
So I didn't contact that many stations, but I wasn't that aggressive about it, either. It was a beautiful day just to take it easy and hang out at the lake, so I just worked'em as I was in the mood.
So thanks to all the stations that I contacted. It was fun.
